Applied AI Engineer

01Role purpose

We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer with strong core ML experience to take AI and ML models from concept to production. You will train, fine-tune and optimise models, build the data and inference pipelines around them, and own the end-to-end delivery of AI solutions using Python, cloud services and modern MLOps practices.

02Key responsibilities

1. 2.1End-to-end ownership of production ML systems, from prototype to live services.
2. 2.2Train, fine-tune and optimise models, including LLMs and open-weight models, for accuracy, latency and cost.
3. 2.3Build and maintain training, data and inference pipelines with solid MLOps practices for CI/CD, monitoring and automated retraining.
4. 2.4Own model evaluation: build eval sets and quality checks so changes ship with confidence.
5. 2.5Design and maintain well-documented, scalable APIs and services that expose AI capabilities to the product.
6. 2.6Collaborate with backend and frontend to integrate AI into real product experiences.
7. 2.7Proactively improve AI infrastructure and model performance, and bring in new techniques.

03Essential

1. 3.1Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
2. 3.2Around 2 to 3 years of experience with hands-on, core ML: training, fine-tuning and shipping models (not just calling APIs).
3. 3.3Strong Python and ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow and scikit-learn.
4. 3.4Experience deploying ML systems to production and operating them.
5. 3.5Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP or Azure and their ML services (for example SageMaker or Vertex AI).
6. 3.6Solid understanding of API design and system architecture.
7. 3.7Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

04Desirable

1. 4.1Experience with LLMs, RAG systems and vector databases.
2. 4.2Familiarity with our stack: Python, Node.js, PyTorch or TensorFlow and LangChain; AWS, GCP, Docker and Kubernetes; PostgreSQL, Pinecone or pgvector, MLflow and Airflow; Git and CI/CD.
